Edo Lamborghini Murcielago LP640 Nardo

At 4am, a wake-up espresso was the only thing to get the team going. As soon as the 6.5 ltr. V12, now with 663 hp, was fired-up the remaining drowsiness disappeared. The wheels were re-torqued and the pressure of the new Continental V-max tires was checked before the edo competition LP 640 Versione Nardo rolled onto the 12.6 km (7.8 miles) long oval. Each contestant had 3 laps for the test; the first was the warm-up lap, the second the high-speed lap, and the third, the cool down lap. The sun had just begun to rise and the conditions were cold with light winds, yet most importantly - dry. During the warm-up lap speeds rose from 280 km/h to 300km/h (174-186 mph). Attention was also paid toward vibrations, oil- and water- temperatures to ensure the LP 640 was running smoothly. And with the newly developed rear wing in place, the tires felt almost glued to the south-Italian tarmac. The revs rose as they began the second lap and the V12 turned into a monstrous screech. The wide open throttle took the edo Lamborghini Murcielago LP640 Nardo to speeds of up to 340 km/h (211mph) in sixth gear. An even higher speed of 345.7 km/h (214.8 mph) was recorded by TÜV-Rheinland's GPS-based measuring system. Decreasing speed for the cooling lap, the team was proud to have achieved the fastest ever recorded top speed of a Lamborghini. The rear wing proved that even at such high speeds the car still maintained its stability. It was through this success that and Edo competition's modifications like an ECU recalibration, new high flow air filters and high performance catalytic converters specifically designed for the LP 640 that made such an impressive result possible. They owe many thanks to Continental, AutoBildSportscars, TÜV-Rheinland and Mr. Thomas Budde, Prof. M.D., for their contributions to the test run. Throughout the test driver's heart rate was measured, equaling those of top athletes, yet Edo Karabegovic's stay in the comfort range with a peak of 150 beats per minute. Afterward, the team of Edo competition Motorsport formulated a plan to field the Lamborghini Murciélago LP 640 with even more power next time in hopes of exceeding a top speed of 360 km/h (224 mph). The goal is to get to 700 hp!
