At the 2013 North American International Auto Show, the 2014 Acura MDX Prototype revealed a brand new look for the third generation of the 7-passenger Acura MDX performance luxury SUV which will be released later this year in both an all-wheel-drive and a front-wheel-drive layout. According to Mike Accavitti, VP of national marketing operations, "Our goal is to advance on MDX's already great dynamic performance while improving fuel economy and luxury comfort."
The "Aero Sculpture" styling of the 2014 MDX Prototype has created a smart, compact, and premium appearance. This "aero" image also reflects an increase of 16 percent in aerodynamic efficiency versus the original 2013 MDX, due to extensive testing in Honda R&D Americas' wind-tunnel laboratory in Raymond, Ohio. With its arcing roofline that is 1.5-inches lower than before, the interior cabin is even more spacious and versatile. Additionally, the extended wheelbase will enhance the ride quality, increase second-row legroom, and make third-row seat access easier.
