Acura RDX Concept

At the North American International Auto Show today, Acura unveiled the RD-X Concept SUV. This concept vehicle boasts Acura's Super Handling All-Wheel Drive (SH-AWD) system, providing sports sedan performance and the all-wheel drive capability of an SUV. The concept hints at the design of the version that Acura has announced will go on sale in 2006. The powertrain of the RD-X features the SH-AWD system that debuted on the 2005 Acura RL luxury performance model. The system distributes torque between the front and rear wheels and also between the left and right rear wheels, for improved traction and cornering precision. The RD-X is finished with an advanced chassis and fully independent front and rear suspension, plus large Brembo disc brakes with slotted rotors, 19-inch alloy wheels and 255/50R19 tires. Measuring 181.5 inches long, the RD-X fits into the small SUV segment. Its exterior sports a compact upper body with an assertive belt line, flared wheel wells, and brushed aluminum Acura signature five-sided grill. A rear spoiler, LED headlights and taillights, and dual integrated exhaust tips complete the look. Detroit 01/09/2005
