Acura RDX Prototype

Today at the North American International Auto Show, the highly anticipated Acura RDX Prototype SUV was debuted. It offers the best of both worlds with sport utility and sports sedan handling and performance. Featuring an innovative 2.3-liter four-cylinder turbocharged engine that produces 240 horsepower and 260 lbs-ft of torque in addition to Acura's exclusive Super Handling All-Wheel Drive (SH-AWD), the RDX Prototype serves as an advance preview of the all-new model scheduled to go on sale this summer. John Mendel, senior vice president, Auto Operations, stated, "The RDX Prototype represents the forward thinking that will be seen in the next generation of Acura light trucks. It is loaded with advanced technology and embodies what we call intelligent performance: a sporty, luxurious, and functional SUV that is incredibly powerful yet fuel efficient." In partnership with a 5-speed sequential SportShift automatic transmission, the RDX is the first-ever Acura to incorporate i-VTEC Turbo technology with a variable flow turbocharger that provides maximum performance while maintaining fuel efficiency. As for the Super Handling All-Wheel Drive system, it is specially tuned for the RDX and is able to distribute torque fore and aft as well as splitting the rear torque left to right to fortify handling, traction, and stability. This powerful system is complimented by a sophisticated chassis, fully independent front and rear suspension, Vehicle Stability Assist (VSA), large disc brakes, and ABS.
