Acura RSX Type-S
Since 2002, the Acura RSX has gained a strong foothold in the sports coupe segment, as well as appealing to the "tuner" market. Offering two models - the sporty RSX and its high-performance counterpart the RSX Type-S - the RSX serves as an ideal introduction to the Acura range of precision-crafted performance luxury vehicles.
Car and Driver's "10 Best" has recognized the RSX, as did Ward's 10 Best Engines, and for 2005 their commitment to excellence has been further emphasized. Upgrades for both the RSX and RSX Type-S aimed to accomplish three main objectives: boost the Type-S's horsepower and 6-speed manual transmission, improving handling and ride comfort through suspension, steering, and braking system developments and upping the aesthetic appeal of the RSX.
Under the bonnet of the RSX is a 16-valve DOHC i-VTEC 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine generating 160 horsepower at 6500 rpm and 141 lb-ft. of torque at 4000 rpm. Both a 5-speed manual and an available 5-speed Sequential SportShift automatic transmission are offered.
