The i-VTEC "intelligent" valve-control system allows for high performance combined with fuel economy and reduced emissions. It also includes a direct ignition system with knock control.
A drive-by-wire throttle control system further enhances the driving experience. It eliminates the need for a mechanical connection between the accelerator pedal and the engine, allowing for greater stability and precise control. It also adjusts the sensitivity of the accelerator pedal to match the drivers needs, as well as further smoothing automatic transmission shifts.
