Alfa Romeo 2000 Berlina

The Alfa Romeo 2000 (series 102) was the successor to the 1900 and released by Italian automobile manufacturing company Alfa Romeo in 1957 at the Turin autosalon. Two models were available, the Alfa Romeo 2000 Berlina with 105 bhp (78 kW) and the Spider with 115 bhp (86 kW). The Sprint was added in 1960. It had a four-cylinder engine with a cast-iron block and aluminum head; its displacement was 1975 cc. The version in the Alfa Romeo 2000 Berlina used a single downdraft Solex carburetor and produced 105 horsepower (78 kW), while the versions used for the Sprint and Spider had two Solex sidedraft carburetors and could reach 115 bhp (86 kW) at 5900 rpm. The gearbox was operated via a column mounted shifter, allowing seating space for three people in front. For the Spider, the gearchange was located on the floor and initially had only two seats; the 2+2 seater was first offered in 1961. The four-door berlina was produced by Alfa Romeo while the Sprint and Spider were respectively put together by design companies Touring and Bertone. Ultimately, their high prices prevented their success on the market, with global sales of only 2,814 berlinas, 3,443 spiders and 704 sprints. The Alfa Romeo 2600 replaced the Alfa Romeo 2000 Berlina in 1961.
