Alfa Romeo 75 1.8i Turbo

The Alfa Romeo 75, also known as the Alfa Romeo Milano in North America, was a compact sports sedan produced by the Italian manufacturer Alfa Romeo between 1985 and 1992. Designed by Ermanno Cressoni, it featured a wedge-shape body with square headlights and a matching grille similar to the Cressoni-designed Alfa Romeo 33. The Alfa Romeo 75 was introduced in May of 1985 to replace the Alfa Romeo Alfetta and Alfa Romeo Giulietta, both of which shared many components with the 75, and was named to pay tribute to the company’s 75th year of production. This remarkable vehicle was almost perfectly balanced from front to rear due to the rear-mounted, five-speed gearbox connected to the rear differential (RWD). The suspension system featured torsion bar and shock absorbers in the front and a de-dion assembly with shock absorbers in the rear, both of which were designed to maximize the car’s handling. A distinctive feature of the Alfa Romeo 75 was its engine crankshaft which was bolted directly to a two-segment driveshaft that ran the length of the underside from the engine block to the gearbox. The Alfa Romeo 75 engine range at launch included 1.6, 1.8, and 2.0 liter petrol carbureted engines, a 2.0 liter intercooled turbo diesel, and a 2.5 liter fuel injected V6. In 1987, a 3.0 liter V6 was added. Nonetheless, in North America, the car was only made available with the 2.5 and 3.0 V6s from 1987 to 1989.
