Alfa Romeo Arna 1983 posters

Alfa Romeo Arna

Originally presented at the 1983 Frankfurt Motor Show, the Alfa Romeo Arna was the result of a brief partnership between Alfa Romeo and Japanese automaker Nissan. Its name was an acronym for Alfa Romeo Nissan Autoveicoli, and the model was based on the Nissan Pulsar, while using engines, transmission and a front suspension borrowed from the Alfa Romeo Alfasud. Notably, it was the first Alfa Romeo to have an independent rear suspension from Nissan. The car's body panels were built by Nissan in Japan and shipped to the newly opened Alfa factory in Pratola Serra, Italy for assembly. However, the Alfa Romeo Arna didn't have too great of an economic success, which eventually led to its production ending after just four years. Alfa Romeo also released the slightly larger Alfa Romeo 33 at the same time as the Arna, filling the gap that it had left. Engines
