Touring Superleggera has brought the iconic Disco Volante to life with the production model debuting at the 2013 Geneva Motor Show. This bespoke-designed car, coachbuilt in limited runs and of world-class quality, has come a long way after revealing its full-scale styling model in 2012. 4,000 hours of manual work and attention to detail have gone into creating a two-seat Gran Turismo based on the Alfa Romeo 8C Competizione coupé, which is powered by a 4.7 litre V8 engine and a transaxle rear drive - both with unmodified specifications.
The Alfa Romeo C52 'Disco Volante' was a breath-taking design when it first emerged in 1952. It was designed with 'insensitivity to wind' in mind, hence the unique basic design which was later given the registered 'design patent' status. Touring implemented Alfa Romeo 1900 C elements to construct a lightweight and aerodynamic body on a tubular chassis. This model promises to satisfy all kinds of collectors, sporting drivers and design aficionados.
