Alfa Romeo RZ 1989 posters

Alfa Romeo RZ

The Alfa Romeo RZ was a convertible version of the Alfa Romeo SZ (Experimental Sportscar 3.0 litre), a limited production sports car/road-concept car manufactured between 1989 and 1991 in partnership with Centro Stile Zagato, Centro Stile Alfa Romeo and Fiat's design studio. The thermoplastic injection moulded composite body panels were made by the Italian company Carplast and French company Stratime. Suspension of the car was revised by the engineer Giorgio Pianta, who was the team manager of Lancia and Fiat's rally works team, and the brakes were taken from the Alfa 75 Turbo Evoluzione. The 3.0 V6 engine (2959cc) produced 210 PS DIN (154 kW) of power. The Alfa Romeo RZ was available in three official colour schemes: Red, Yellow and Black, with three additional silver colours and one pearlescent white colour created for Andrea Zagato. A total of 1035 SZs were produced, and 241 Alfa Romeo RZs were made in the end (the planned figure was 350). About a hundred of the SZ model were exported to Japan.
