Artega GT

The idea for the Artega GT initially came as a "dream order" to a team of highly motivated individuals: to develop an extraordinary sports car that would be a unique representation of the internationally successful electronics supplier, paragon AG. The Artega concept was to establish a new brand, and the team was given clear instruction; inspired by the passion for sporty cars, show complete mastery in automotive engineering. This mission required four major development focus areas:

Design: Extraordinary Form Language

For the first time in its class, renowned designer Henrik Fisker created proportions of 3950 x 1880 x 1180 mm (L,W,H): broad, flat, and compact. The car's design was characterized by flowing lines in the front, a low-unique windowed greenhouse which gave a curved and arched form to the body, and a classy rear end. Despite its compact design, the interior was able to comfortably seat two adults, and allow space for more than just necessary luggage - such as a child's seat.

Design Features: Agility, Driving Dynamics and Safety

The major design parameters for the vehicle body were lightweight design and rigidity. An aluminium spaceframe in combination with a carbonfibre reinforced compound body ensured a top power-to-weight ratio. Volkswagen Group's high-grade drive components were installed and mounted as a rear engine transverse for optimal space utilisation, weight distribution, and traction. The 3.6-litre V6 engine proved ideal for this class, as well as a highly praised direct-shift gearbox. Seats folded back to enable easier loading. A steel side-collision protection and crash modules offered a secure passive safety system, and airbags in the front and side could be deployed in an accident. Additionally, state-of-the-art driver assistance systems such as the Electronic Stability Program, ABS and Traction Control were integrated to equip the car with the best active safety features. Four engine drive programs could also be selected: Normal, Sport, Race and Off.
