Aston Martin Bulldog Concept Car 1980 posters

Aston Martin Bulldog Concept Car

Designed by William Towns, the Aston Martin Bulldog was constructed as a single test model. Initially, there were plans to make a limited number of 25 vehicles. The code name was DP K9, named after a Doctor Who character. Despite being developed in the UK, the car is a left-hand-drive. It stands at just 43 inches (1.1 meters) high, with an iconic gull-wing door. It has digital instruments in the interior and for the rear view, there is a television monitor situated on the center console. The car is driven by a 5.3L twin-turbo V8 with 700 bhp (522 kW) of power. The first test drive of the Aston Martin Bulldog took place in 1979 and ended up being a resounding success. It achieved an official speed of 191 mph (307 km/h), although the theoretical speed potential is approximately 237 mph (381 km/h). The car had its debut on March 27, 1980 at the Bell Hotel in Aston Clinton. When the project was finished, Aston Martin AU sold the only Bulldog off to the highest bidder. All in all, the overall design and building cost of Aston Martin Bulldog is estimated to be about £130,000. At some stage, the Bulldog was imported to the US, soon returning to the UK with a new green paint job (where it originally had silver and light grey finish). As for the interior, it has been altered from the original dark brown and black to a light tan tone.
