Aston Martin DB9 Volante

The world premiere of the elegant Aston Martin DB9 Volante occurred on January 4th at the 2004 Detroit Motor Show. In just two and a half years, the company released six new cars and this convertible was the 13th model to be introduced. This is the first convertible to use the brand's VH Platform (Vertical/Horizontal) Strategy and the first to be built at the Aston Martin Gaydon facility. The Aston Martin DB9 Volante was released in conjunction with the Aston Martin DB9 Coupe, launched at the Frankfurt Motor Show in September 2003. Both these cars are hand-assembled at the Aston Martin Gaydon factory, the Coupe being made available to customers from Spring 2004 and the Volante from Autumn 2004. Approximately 2000 DB9 models are expected to be sold in 2005, with approximately 50% of those being the Volante model. The long line of post-war convertibles that the DB9 Volante belongs to stretches all the way back to the DB2 of 1950 and includes the DB4, DB5, DB6, V8, and DB7.
