Aston Martin DB9 Volante

The world premiere of the luxurious Aston Martin DB9 Volante took place on January 4th at the 2004 Detroit Motor Show, the sixth new vehicle from the company in only two and a half years. This marks the thirteenth convertible created by Aston Martin, which includes the iconic DB2, DB4, DB5, DB6, V8, and DB7, all of which were launched after World War II. Furthermore, the DB9 Volante is the first motor vehicle to use Aston Martin's remarkable VH Platform (Vertical/Horizontal) Strategy, and it is also the first to be built at the newly opened facility in Gaydon, England. The Aston Martin DB9 Volante is being constructed alongside the Aston Martin DB9 Coupe, which had its world debut at the Frankfurt Motor Show in September 2003. Both models are manufactured by hand and the Coupe will begin being sold to customers starting in the spring of 2004 with the Volante becoming available in the autumn of that same year. Aston Martin is anticipating that more than 2000 DB9 models will be sold in 2005, with the Volante accounting for approximately half of these purchases.
