Aston Martin DBR9 2005 posters

Aston Martin DBR9

The Aston Martin DBR9 made its debut to a select audience at Aston Martin's headquarters in Gaydon, UK on November 4th 2004. An extensive testing regimen ensued before the Aston Martin DBR9's first race at the 12 hours of Sebring in Florida in March the following year. Carrying the same iconic green and yellow livery of the 1959 Le Mans-winning DBR1 and the DB3S, Aston Martin Racing ran two cars during the Sebring race before embarking on preparations for the 24-hour Le Mans race in June 2005. This marked the company's return to Le Mans, and a remarkable feat that witnessed Roy Salvadori and Carroll Shelby win the overall competition. With twelve cars produced for international GT series, Aston Martin Racing offered twenty additional cars, limited to the same spec of preparation, for private collections or race entry of their customers. Featuring the latest Aston Martin DB9's bonded-aluminium body architecture, the DBR9 race engine is comprised of the same aluminium cylinder block and head as the DB9 V12 unit, which makes 450bhp, but with its racing modifications, it boasts a projected horsepower of 600bhp.
