The Aston Martin V8 Vantage N420 Roadster is a special edition, taking influences from motorsport and bringing enhanced dynamic abilities to the V8 Vantage range. Succeeding the V8 Vantage N400 from 2007, the N420 is built on a 4.7-litre, 420bhp engine and reaches a top speed of 180mph. It is available either as a Coupe or Roadster, and comes with either a six-speed manual or Sportshift automated manual transmission.
The development of the V8 Vantage draws upon Aston Martin's experience at the Nürburgring 24-hour race. In 2006, Aston Martin entered a near-standard, road-registered V8 Vantage named 'Rose' into the race, which achieved an impressive 4th in class and 24th overall from a field of more than 200 competitive cars. Aston Martin has returned each ensuing year, earning a number of class victories and podiums with both V8 and V12 Vantages, as well as the four-door Rapide. This racing success fuelled the Vantage GT4 customer programme, while the knowledge gained from racing at the Nürburgring trickled down to the V8 Vantage production car.
