Aston Martin Vantage GT3

Aston Martin announced the details of the latest Vantage GT3 race car, which takes after its predecessor, the DBRS9. Boasting the latest technology, the Vantage GT3 is well-prepared to compete with the latest offerings from other manufacturers.

Underneath its muscular, purposeful appearance lies Aston Martin's 6.0 litre V12 engine. Dynamically modified to generate 600 bhp and 700 Nm of torque, the engine is positioned to optimise weight balance. Additionally, it is linked to a Xtrac 6 speed sequential transmission with semi-automatic paddle shift gear change utilising a carbon fibre propshaft.

The Vantage GT3 McCain's the marque's familiar V/H architecture, consisting of an aluminium and composite structure created using aerospace bonding techniques to provide a lightweight, stiff chassis which not only aids handling on Aston Martin's road cars but is superior for racing. Its shorter wheelbase and lower engine position contribute to its improved performance.

The Vantage GT3 also comes with ABS and Traction Control systems, both designed to enhance driveability. The Vantage GT3 is eligible for many racing series, from FIA GT3 Championship to Open GT.

Aston Martin has sold 24 DBRS9s. Furthermore, customer teams have managed to rack up an impressive win record the last six years, with a 2009 Teams Championship and Manufacturer Championship for Hexis Racing and a 2011 GT Open race win for Villois Racing.

Testing of the Vantage GT3 will begin this October followed by the 10,000 km sign-off durability test programme. Then, the first cars will be delivered in early 2012. Prices start from £298,000.
