Audi is offering an alluring peek into the future of electric mobility with the electric-only powertrain of their A2 concept at the 64th International Motor Show (IAA) in Frankfurt. The white-painted technical study, measuring just 3.80 meters (12.47 ft) long, 1.69 meters (5.54 ft) wide and 1.49 meters (4.89 ft) high, has a classic premium-standard space that comfortably fits four people. Its clean appearance underscores the essentials, with each detail subtly striking. Its dark glass roof transitions to transparency upon pressing a button, creating a powerful and sporty profile on the streets.
The next phase in LED technology is featured in its headlights, known as matrix beam. A package of LEDs and microreflectors form a non-glaring high-beam light, while delicate fibers frame its efficient LED low-beam light module. Additionally, its intelligent tail lights adjust to visibility and its rear fog light is produced by laser diodes. The Audi A2 concept also has a dynamic light that runs from the front to the rear of the car, featuring multiple innovative functions.
Inside, a dashboard panel has a light and clean look with intuitive controls. The driver is able to operate several important features with touch-control areas on the inside of the steering wheel. Its interior floorboard is flat, with a center console attached to the driver's seat and a rear console extending between the two rear seats. The four individual seats and storage spaces under the fold-up seat cushions add to its lightness, while its load area is composed of two levels.
The colors and materials of its interior promote lightness and functionality. A polyurethane material with neoprene surface feel, recycled polyester, and aluminum elements create a pleasant and modern atmosphere.
