Audi A4

The all-new Audi A4 B6 debuted in late 2000, featuring an improved 1.6 L base model and larger sized engines. The 1.8 20 valve Turbo was available in three versions - 110, 150 and 180 PS (110 or 132 kW) - with the latter coming with a standard six-speed gearbox. The naturally aspirated 1.8 L straight-4 and 2.8 L V6 were replaced by 2.0 L and 3.0 L units, both featuring five valves per cylinder, and a maximum output of 220 PS (162 kW) and 300 Nm (221 ft.lbf) of torque. Also, the 1.9 TDI engine was upgraded to 130 PS; quattro became available as an option, while the 2.5 V6 TDI variant had 180 PS (132 kW) and standard quattro. The Avant version of the A4 came out in mid 2001. As of 2002, the power output of the 1.8 Turbo engine was boosted to 163 and 190 PS (120 and 140 kW respectively). The 2.5 TDI was upgraded to 163 PS. The S4 model, powered by a 344 PS (253 kW) 4.2 L V8, made a comeback in 2003, alongside the A4 Cabrio convertible, which succeeded the 80-based Audi Cabriolet. Audi's Multitronic continuously variable transmission, developed by LuK, replaced the Tiptronic in front wheel drive models. The Multitronic received positive evaluations for its light weight and promptness in response. However, its usage was limited to models with a maximum of 310 Nm (229 ft.lbf) of torque. The boot was redesigned to make it smoother by removing the extension of the top edge, and the taillight assembly was moved to the top line. The A4 Cabriolet version came out in 2002 sporting minor style changes such as body-colored lower bumper and sill panels that also became available for the sedan version.
