Audi A4 Cabriolet 3.0

The Audi A4 Cabriolet 3.0, designated Typ 8E, was first released on 10 October 2000 and built on the Volkswagen Group B6 (PL46) platform. It features a design inspired by the iconic Bauhaus design language, and includes all-aluminum 3.0 liter and 2.0 liter engines, providing 217 bhp and 128 bhp of power respectively. The 1.8 liter 20-valve Turbo was also included, with two additional versions with 150 PS (110 kW; 148 bhp) or 180 PS (132 kW; 178 bhp), the latter complete with a standard six-speed manual gearbox, while the 1.9 Turbocharged Direct Injection (TDI) engine was upgraded to a 130 PS (96 kW; 128 bhp), with Pumpe Düse (Unit Injector) (PD) technology. It was also available with quattro permanent four-wheel drive. An Avant variant, first launched in June 2001, also made its debuted in European showrooms in September 2001. For 2002, Audi improved the engine with added power and displacement increases or upgrades. In line with this development, a 2.5 V6 TDI high-end model was introduced, complete with 180 PS (132 kW; 178 bhp) and quattro. It also featured a Bosch ESP 5.7 Electronic Stability Programme (ESP) system, with anti-lock braking system (ABS), brake assist, and electronic brakeforce distribution (EBD). Also included was an optional sport package, named 'Ultra Sport', released on the North American market just before the B6 was switched out for the B7. It was made up of aluminium interior trim and door sills, "S line" steering wheel, front and rear spoilers, side skirts, and quattro GmbH-designed 18-inch RS4 alloy roadwheels. The boot was redesigned to eliminate the extension of the top edge, and the rear light assemblies now formed part of the top line. These design changes were later adopted by other European and Asian car makers. Audi also introduced the S4, powered by a 344 PS (253 kW; 339 bhp) 4.2 L V8 engine in 2003, as well as an A4 Cabriolet convertible variant (Typ 8H), which was equipped with an electro-hydraulic operated roof.
