Audi A4
The all-new Audi A4 was revealed in late 2000 based on the B6 platform. It featured a 1.6 L base model, as well as 1.8 20 valve Turbo model with 150 or 180 PS (110 or 132 kW) and a 6-speed gearbox. The 1.8L straight-4 and 2.8L V6 engines were replaced by 2.0L and 3.0L units generating 220 PS (162 kW) and 300 Nm (221 ft.lbf). The 1.9 TDI engine was upgraded to 130 PS and available with quattro, and a 2.5 V6 TDI 180 PS (132 kW) model with quattro was also added. An Avant variant arrived in mid-2001. For 2002, the 1.8 Turbo engines were enhanced to 163 and 190 PS (120 and 140 kW), and the 2.5 TDI to 163 PS. A year later, Audi introduced the S4 with a powerful 4.2L V8 engine with 344 PS (253 kW), as well as an A4 Cabrio convertible option. Audi also released a Multitronic transmission developed by LuK, which earned much acclaim for its light weight and response, however, it was limited to models with a maximum of 310 Nm (229 ft.lbf). Following the lead of the Audi A6, the A4 boot was redesigned with a smoother fold line, and the taillight assembly became a part of the top line. Changes like body-colored lower bumper and sill panels were brought from the cabriolet model, introduced in 2002 to replace the discontinued Audi 80-based model.
