Audi A4 Avant 3.2 quattro

Audi released a new A4 model with the B7 platform in late 2004—a refined version of the previous B6 rather than completely redesigned. Accordingly, Audi's platform labelling is PL46, or Longitudinal Passenger Car Platform, Size 4, Generation 6. The engine lineup saw numerous additions, such as Fuel Stratified Injection for the 2.0 TFSI and 3.2 V6 FSI, both producing 200 and 255 PS (147 and 188 kW). These engines, however, were limited to 4 valves per cylinder instead of the 5-valve design as the direct injection system was incompatible. The new 2.0 TDI engine was among the more renowned updates with combination of Pumpe Düse (PD) technology and 16 valves and an enlarged 2.5 TDI to 3.0 L with 204 PS (150 kW). Quattro drivetrains were available as standard or optional for most mid- to high-end models, with either the Multitronic or Tiptronic automatic gearboxes. Note that the Multitronic is only available for front-wheel drive models, and the Tiptronic is exclusive to Quattro models. The S4 carry-over remained virtually the same technically, although the RS4's return marked its debut as a sedan with a naturally aspirated 4.2 V8 FSI engine. Moreover, the 3rd-generation Quattro system uses a 40:60 front-rear power ratio. Initially released as a limited edition in late 2005, the 2.0T FSI engine is now rated to 220 PS (162 kW) with standard quattro and a full-height front grill identical to the Audi A6. The B7 Convertible appeared slightly later in February 2006, with the addition of an entry-level 2.0 TDI variant—unfortunately, this does not include the Multitronic gearbox.
