The Audi A5 is getting a facelift, with features like advanced technologies, efficient engines, sportier designs, and intelligent infotainment options added to the Sportback, Coupé, Cabriolet, and S5 models. These models now have a more distinctive look, with redesigned rear lights and headlights available with xenon plus technology and homogenous LED daytime running lights. The interior has also been updated with new colors and materials.
Under the hood, the A5 offers a range of TDI diesel and TFSI gasoline engines that all have forced induction and direct fuel injection for increased performance. The 1.8 TFSI is particularly noteworthy for reducing average fuel consumption by 11%. Start-stop and recuperation systems also come as standard across the engine-transmission configurations.
The appropriate drivetrain—six-speed manual, multitronic, seven-speed S tronic, front-wheel drive, or quattro drive—can be chosen for each engine. The quattro drive also includes the crown-gear center differential and torque vectoring, while the dynamic steering and optional Audi drive select system can be added for a more performance-oriented driving experience. Finally, the electromechanical power steering adds an additional layer of control and refinement.
