Audi is introducing the first luxury-class e-tron concept vehicle - the Audi A6 L e-tron concept - at the Auto China 2012 event in Beijing. This plug-in hybrid provides a driving range of up to 80 km (49.71 miles) using exclusively electric power, designed with the needs of China in mind.
Considering the widespread popularity of the A6 L, Audi's bestselling premium car in China made at its Changchun plant in collaboration with FAW, the Audi A6 L e-tron concept represents a big step towards future electrified mobility in the country. Much more than a drive system, the concept car gives Chinese customers the prestige, comfort and sporty performance they treasure in Audi vehicles.
The parallel hybrid technology of the technology study is composed of a 2.0 TFSI engine that produces a maximum output of 155 kW (211 hp), as well as a 70 kW (95 hp) electrical motor. Powering the electric motor is a liquid-cooled lithium-ion battery, located in a secure compartment at the rear of the car. The hybrid control module automatically chooses the most suitable operating mode focused on ensuring the car’s maximum range. With a constant speed of 60 km/h (37.28 mph), the Audi A6 L e-tron concept is capable of travelling up to 80 km (49.71 miles) on electric power.
