Audi A6 3.2

The Audi A6 3.2 represents a major upgrade from the 2004 Typ 4F model, designed by Satoshi Wada in 2001. Not only visually an evolution of the C5, the A6 has been lengthened to 4,927 millimetres (194.0 in), and now has the prominent Audi "single-frame grille". This model features the distinctive "tornado line" which runs from the front lights to the rear lights, below the body shoulders. It boasts more sophisticated technology, such as Multi Media Interface (MMI) – a system controlling in-car entertainment, satellite navigation, climate control, car settings and optional electronic accessories through one integrated display. Additionally, Fuel Stratified Injection (FSI) direct injection technology has been introduced for internal combustion engines. The A6 can be tailored with the multitronic continuously variable transmission for front-wheel drive models, or the new six-speed tiptronic automatic transmission available for four-wheel drive models. Audi's Torsen-based quattro permanent four-wheel drive is also available for most of the lineup, and standard in the most powerful variants. Audi's Avant variant was previewed by the Avantissimo concept in 2001 and released in 2005 – and the A6 allroad quattro was introduced in 2006. This was an off-road version of the Avant which came in either a 2.7-litre V6 or 3.0-litre V6 Turbocharged Direct Injection diesel engines, or a 3.2-litre V6 or 4.2-litre V8 petrol engine. In 2005, the A6 won the World Car of the Year award, as well as the Practical Caravan "Towcar of the Year" awards in recognition of its towing features such as adjustable suspension height and damping, and the presence of a 123 Trailer Stability Programme.
