Audi A6 L e-tron Concept

Audi has revealed its first luxury electric vehicle - the Audi A6 L e-tron concept - at Auto China 2012 in Beijing, with a drive system that gives it a 49.71 mile range on pure electric power. Crafted with Chinese needs in mind, the car is a demonstration of what Audi's local New Energy Vehicle production could look like. The plug-in hybrid is based on the A6 L, Audi's most popular premium vehicle in China that is assembled at the Changchun plant in partnership with FAW. It offers what customers would expect from the German automaker - prestige, comfort and sporty performance - as well as all the features of a plug-in hybrid that make it ideal for use in megacities. Parallel hybrid system: intelligently combined TFSI and electric motor The technology study is a parallel hybrid system that combines a 155 kW (211 hp) 2.0 TFSI with a 70 kW (95 hp) electric motor. Its liquid-cooled lithium-ion battery is securely placed at the rear, and it can travel up to 80 km (49.71 miles) at a constant speed of 37.28 mph on electric power alone. The advanced hybrid control module activates the most appropriate operating definition for maximum driving range.
