Audi A8L 4.2 TDI quattro

The Audi A8L 4.2 TDI quattro is an iteration of the second-generation Audi A8 (Typ 4E) which was unveiled in July 2002 and released in November 2002 in Europe and June 2003 in the United States. It offers roomy accommodations for four or five adults, depending on the rear-seat configuration. The D3 platform was developed beginning in 1996, with the design process occurring primarily in Ingolstadt the following year. Over the two-year development period, six full-size clay models were created and honed, resulting in two models in late 1998. Finally, final selection was made in late 1999. To coincide with the exterior design progress, the interior design was also worked on, utilizing four full-size models. The instrument panel had a horizontally-themed design from early on, with three main contributors shaping it. The goal was to group the major controls nearer the driver, in order to make it more driver-focused and airy. This effort was aided by the Multi Media Interface (MMI) and color and trim offerings from two other designers.
