The Audi R8 GT is an exclusive, limited-production version of Audi's renowned high-performance sports car, the R8. This new version is even more powerful, lighter and faster than ever before. With an increased output of 412 kW (560 hp) and a reduction of 100 kilograms (220.46 lb) of weight, the R8 GT accelerates from zero to 100 km/h (62.14 mph) in just 3.6 seconds and achieves a top speed of 320 km/h (198.84 mph).
Audi's acclaimed R8 has much to be proud of. It won the "World Performance Car" Award in 2008 (R8) and 2010 (R8 V10), and has already seen success on the race track, where the R8 LMS has won 23 races and three championships in its first season. Now the genes of the race version are coming to the street with the R8 GT, a limited series with just 333 units - each of which features a badge with its production number on the shift lever knob.
Consistent use of lightweight construction: 100 kilograms (220.46 lb) trimmed
The standard Audi R8 V10 5.2 FSI quattro already displays Audi's dedication to lightweight construction. Its aluminum Audi Space Frame (ASF) body weighs only 210 kilograms (462.97 lb), with joints between aluminum body panels and the frame of extruded profiles and cast nodes held together with positive and friction connections. The engine frame is crafted from ultra lightweight magnesium.
