Audi RS2 Avant 1993 posters

The

Audi RS2 Avant

is renowned amongst automobile aficionados as a practical and sporty family car that offers plenty of room as well as a turbocharged driving experience. At the time of its market launch, it was the fastest estate car in the world and the first Audi to reach speeds of 250 km/h. This project was a joint collaboration between Audi and Porsche to both boost the image of Audi and employ the team at Porsche during challenging times. Porsche had already established a tradition of external development projects since 1931 and this was a way to successfully carry on that proud legacy. In addition, this was an opportunity for Audi customers to become part of the Porsche legend. To celebrate 25 years since the last RS Avant was produced, Ralf Friese from Audi met with former head of the RS2 project at Porsche, Michael Hölscher. Friese brought a Tropic Green RS2 from Ingolstadt and the Porsche Museum provided a 911(964 generation) in Viola Metallic for their outing. Components from 993 and 964 911s were transferred to the Audi RS2, such as indicators, fog lights and a semi light bar. As avid motorcyclists, the pair decided to take a trip along the winding roads of the old Solitude racetrack located west of Stuttgart.
