Audi S1 Sportback
Back in the 1980s, an Audi S1 had already obtained legendary fame - it was the car that dominated the World Rally Championship of its day. Now, Audi has made a comeback by introducing the S1 and the S1 Sportback, the new peak models in the compact A1 range. Powered by a highly-efficient 2.0 TFSI engine, it produces a maximum output of 170 kW (231 hp) and 370 Nm (272.90 lb-ft) of torque, along with the permanent quattro all-wheel drive system and extensively overhauled suspension that effortlessly transmits power to the ground. With that, the Audi S1 and the S1 Sportback set the standard for dynamic performance in their segment.
The S1 and S1 Sportback serve as the entry-level models of the Audi S range. According to Prof. Dr. Hackenberg, Audi Board Member for Technical Development, "The Audi S1 offers all the virtues of a sports car, great performance, direct handling and permanent quattro drive that puts the power to the road in a superior way," adding that the quattro system is sure to increase its public favorability given its availability of this segment.
The 2.0 TFSI engine has a turbocharger that aids its performance. In just 5.8 and 5.9 seconds, the S1 and S1 Sportback are able to accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h (62.14 mph). Furthermore, their top speed is an impressive 250 km/h (155.34 mph). Best of all, these highly potent sporty models are also quite fuel-efficient, averaging at 7.0 (33.60 US mpg) and 7.1 (33.13 US mpg) liters of fuel consumption per 100 kilometers (162 and 166 grams CO2 per kilometer [260.71 g/mile / 267.15 g/mile]) respectively.
