Audi S3

The Audi S3 is a four-door, entry-level luxury hatchback that was first released in 1999. It was constructed on the A platform which is shared by other Audi models like the TT and A3, and Volkswagen models including the Golf, SEAT León, and Škoda Octavia. Initially, its turbocharged 1.8L 20V engine had a 210bhp power output. By 2002, this had increased to 225bhp due to the addition of Variable Valve Timing. With 280Nm of torque available across its rpm range, this provided an impressive amount of power for a small-sized engine. The S3 features a four-wheel drive system with a Haldex coupling, which allows it to adjust the bias from the front to rear axle when grip changes. Although nicknamed Quattro, this system normally operates as a front-wheel drive. Offering spacious dimensions and adjustable driver seating and steering wheel, the S3 was easy and enjoyable to drive. However, it was never officially marketed in the United States. Audi released a facelift in 2001. The update included one-piece headlights/indicator units, different wings, rear lights clusters, and minor interior trim upgrades such as a digital clock. Standard features of the S3 included xenon HID headlamps, 17" Avus alloy wheels, adjustable Recaro leather seats, climate control, alarm, electronic traction control/stability program, and more. Optional features include a Bose sound system, boot/trunk mounted 6 disc CD changer, metallic paint, 18" 9-spoke RSTT wheels, glass sunroof, centre arm rest, auto dipping rear view mirror, parking assist, luggage net, heated front seats, cruise control, and aluminium door mirror casings.
