From the pinnacle of the A3 family, the Audi S3 Sportback brings unparalleled momentum. Underneath its hood lies the powerfully impressive 2.0 TFSI engine with 195 kW (265 hp) and sustained 350 Nm (258.15 lb-ft) torque from 2,500 to 5,000 rpm. In comparison to the A3, the two-liter engine in the S3 has seen significant improvements. The turbochargers have been bolstered with larger turbine and compressor wheels, achieving a charge pressure of up to 1.2 bar. A renovated charge air cooler brings down the compressed air temperature, thereby increasing the intake air mass. Additionally, the engine has been reinforced with improved pins in its pistons and newly mounted connecting rods, while the cylinder block is made of a high-temperature alloy. It's exhaust camshaft timing has also been optimized for the increased output, and the high-pressure injectors have been made with an enlarged cross-section. All this combined technology makes the S3 engine a powerful firepower, yet it's still light, weighing at just 152 kg (335.10 lb).
5.8 seconds from 0 to 100 km/h: Concentrated dynamics
The Audi S3 Sportback is capable of demonstrating its full dynamic potential. Within 5.8 seconds it can accelerate up to 100 km/h (62.14 mph), with the electronic limiter disabling anymore propulsion beyond 250 km/h (155.34 mph). Furthermore, its power does not cost a fortune at the gas pump - it offers an efficient fuel economy, averaging at 8.5 liters per 100 km (27.67 mpg).
