It stands alone in its class with a 2.0 TFSI engine that generates 221 kW (300 hp) and 380 Nm (280.27 lb-ft) of torque, while also providing maximum efficiency with S tronic – achieving 7.1 liters of fuel consumption per 100 kilometers (33.13 US mpg) on average (165 grams of CO2 per kilometer [265.54 g/mile]). At 4.43 meters (14.53 ft) in length, with a wheelbase of 2.60 meters (8.53 ft), a width of 1.79 meters (5.87 ft) and a height of 1.39 meters (4.56 ft), the S3 Cabriolet displays sporty proportions with taut lines and sculpted flanks. Its soft top is powered by an electrohydraulic drive and incorporates magnesium, aluminum and high-strength steel components for a lightweight design, and has a foam insulation layer to keep out noise. It opens and closes in 18 seconds even from speeds up to 50 km/h (31.07 mph), and is available in three colors. It also has an active rollover system for additional safety.
The exterior boasts S3 badges on the front and rear and comes in 12 distinctive paint colors, such as the exclusive Panther Black, crystal effect and Sepang Blue pearl effect. The Singleframe grille, bordered with chrome and a platinum-gray insert, is framed by double cross-struts with an aluminum look. The energetic edges of the air intakes contain double ribs and honeycomb inserts.
