Audi S6
The Audi S6 was introduced in 1994 as an upgraded version of the fifth generation 100 model, when Audi wanted to keep a sports-sedan in their lineup. For 1995, it was powered by a 2.2 L turbocharged five-cylinder engine producing 230 PS (169 kW/227 hp). The vehicle offered impressive performance such as a top speed of 243 km/h (151 mph) and 0 to 100 km/h (62 mph) in 6.1 seconds. It was available as a sedan and an "Avant" (station wagon) in Europe, however, in North America, Asia and Australia it was only offered as a sedan. For an added performance boost, a more powerful and optional 4.2 L V8 engine producing 290 PS (213 kW/286 hp) was available. Furthermore, a very limited-production S6 Plus, powered by a 326 PS (240 kW/322 hp) version of the V8 (later seen in the Audi S8), could be purchased in Europe. This version had reworked key parts of the engine, suspension, brakes and transmission, allowing the S6 Plus to reach 100 km/h (62 mph) from a standstill in under six seconds.
