Audi S8
The Audi S8 will be launched on the market in spring 2012 as the new head of the Audi S model family - a large, luxurious sedan of supreme power. It is powered by a 4.0 TFSI engine that generates 382 kW (520 hp) and delivers a constant 650 Nm (479.42 lb-ft) of torque to the crankshaft between 1,700 and 5,500 rpm. This impressive engine performance enables the sprint from zero to 100 km/h (62.14 mph) in just 4.2 seconds, with a top speed electronically capped at 250 km/h (155.34 mph). To top it off, it is also remarkably fuel efficient, with an average of 10.2 liters per 100 km (23.06 US mpg). This is an impressive improvement compared to the 5.2-liter V10 engine in the previous model, which consumed an average of 13.2 liters per 100 km (17.82 US mpg). This reduction of nearly 23 percent despite the 51 kW (70 hp) increase in output is due to the integration of the Audi modular efficiency platform technologies including recuperation and start-stop systems and the innovative 'cylinder on demand' technology. The latter deactivates four of the eight cylinders at a part load to improve efficiency particularly at moderate highway speeds. Additionally, Active Noise Cancellation system is employed to suppress any intrusive noise and vibrations.
