Audi TT Coupe

The Audi TT Coupe was first released in September 1998 as a two-door model with a 1.8 L turbocharged inline four-cylinder 20-valve engine. It was equipped with either front wheel drive or quattro all-wheel drive technology and featured a 180 PS (132 kW) version of the engine. In 2001, a Quattro offering of the engine with a larger turbocharger, an additional intercooler, forged connecting rods, a dual exhaust, and some other internal changes to accommodate increased turbo boost from 10 psi peak to 15 was made available, bringing a 225 PS (165 kW) power output. In late 1999 or early 2000, due to concerns regarding the car's handling, all TT models were recalled for modifications such as the addition of rear-wing spoilers to reduce lift and alterations to the suspension settings for increased understeer. In 2003, a 3.2 L VR6 was also offered, producing 250 PS (184 kW) with quattro all-wheel drive and a top speed of 250 km/h (155 mph). In 2004, a dual-clutch gearbox with improved acceleration was made available, along with a stiffer suspension system. The TT's design has been widely renowned since its debut in 1995 as a concept car. Its bare aluminum anodized bodywork and lack of defined bumpers was a revolutionary departure for the car market at that time. People began to take notice of Audi as a real competitor amongst BMW and Mercedes-Benz. The B5-platform A4 served to further propel Audi to the forefront of European manufacturers.
