Audi TT Roadster 3.2 quattro

The production model Audi TT Roadster 3.2 quattro was launched in August 1999 and has a transversely mounted engine with front or quattro all wheel drive. It is powered by a 250 PS (184 kW) 3.2 L VR6 engine coupled with the quattro all-wheel drive system. Features also include a lightened and power-boosted "quattro Sport" model with 240 PS (176 kW) and a top speed of 250 km/h (155 mph). Updates include a DSG (dual-clutch) gearbox for improved acceleration and a stiffer suspension. The TT's bold design is often regarded as a watershed moment in automobile design. Its distinctive, rounded bodywork, bare aluminum features, and lack of defined bumpers have made the TT an iconic car, giving automotive designers greater latitude to experiment with innovative designs. It also helped Audi position itself as a serious competitor for the likes of BMW and Mercedes-Benz. The TT was all recalled in 1999/2000 due to concerns about the car's handling which was considered unstable under high-speed cornering as the result of throttle lift-off oversteer. Rear-wing spoilers were fitted to reduce lift and the suspension settings were altered to increase understeer. Jeremy Clarkson from BBC's Top Gear deemed the handling and steering to be "boring", while the Nissan 350Z was seen to have more grip. However, the TT's handling is deliberately tuned to have more understeer, which appeals to a much broader market and provides a safer driving experience. The 2006 TT model was pulled from Californian states and other states that had adopted California emission standards due to it not meeting with these states' emissions standards.
