Audi allroad quattro

Produced from 2000 to 2006, the Audi allroad Quattro was a wagon-style crossover boasting a unique design. Built on the same platform as the second generation A6 Avant (station wagon), it featured advanced air suspension, larger wheels with off-road tires, and unpainted bumpers for increased flexibility over varied terrain. The quattro system was standard and there were multiple engines available; a 2.7L twin-turbo V6, alongside a 2.5L 132 kW (180 PS) and 370 N·m (273 ft·lbf) diesel, and a 4.2 V8. It had a low-range mode and adjustable suspension for ground clearance of 21 cm (8.3 in). An S6-like sporty driving experience was also possible with the suspension lowered to 16 cm (5.5 in). Though praised by owners and publications, the allroad failed to meet sales expectations in North America, due to its high price, lack of identity, and hardly any advertising. Its most successful sales region was Europe, including Germany. In 2004, a slightly more affordable diesel model was added, but sales of allroad continued to decline. In 2005, production was halted and 2006 saw no model year in North America. Audi instead focused on the larger Audi Q7 SUV, which also has a Porsche Cayenne and VW Touareg version. It followed it up with the smaller, sportier Q5 to fill the vacuum of car-based SUVs. The allroad was brought back in 2006 based on the new A6 Avant, and it gained a good reception for its lower price than the Q7, engaging driving experience, and quality cabin.
