Bentley Arnage Red Label 2000 posters

Bentley Arnage Red Label

Launched in late 1999, the Bentley Arnage Red Label marked a shift away from the BMW-powered version as Volkswagen, who had purchased the Bentley name and Crewe factory, was looking for an alternative engine. Vickers had already outsourced production of the old 6.75 L Rolls-Royce engine to Cosworth for use in the continued Continental and Azure models. As a result, Volkswagen purchased Cosworth, thus eliminating the need for the BMW engine. The Red Label model brought back the V8, offering a torque of 835 N·m provided by a single Garret T4 turbocharger, considered the greatest amount of torque for a four-door car at the time. Additionally, a General Motors-sourced 4-speed 4L80-E automatic transmission was adopted. In 2001, a long-wheelbase version of the Red Label was launched at the Detroit Auto Show, replacing the Green Label models. Red Label production ended in 2002.
