Bentley Continental GT3 Racecar
At the 2013 Goodwood Festival of Speed, Bentley debuted the Continental GT3, an awe-inspiring racing machine designed to unlock the true potential of the iconic Continental GT. Rolf Frech, a member of Bentley's Board of Engineering, remarked: "The Continental GT3 taps into the tremendous performance within every Continental GT. We've managed to strip away a staggering 1000 kilograms of weight, converted the 4.0-litre V8 engine to give it a 600 bhp race capacity, and created a spectacular aerodynamic package that allows us to compete at the highest level. We look forward to taking this car on to the track and displaying its power."
The Bentley Continental GT3 is powered by a race-optimised and dry-sump version of the 4.0-litre twin turbo V8, with many original components. It develops up to 600 bhp when put into unrestricted race mode and comes with an engine management system. Not only does it give the GT3 car remarkable power, but also helps keep it lightweight and compact, which is perfect for racing. The power is sent to the rear tyres through a carbon-fibre prop shaft to the Xtrac 6-speed sequential gearbox with a limited slip differential. Shifting of the gears is controlled by paddle shifters connected to the steering wheel.
