Bentley S1 1955 posters

Bentley S1

The Bentley S1 was manufactured by Bentley Motors Limited from 1955 to 1959. It was tallied as the last car to make use of a 4.9 L (4887cc/298in³) straight-6 engine and was the precursor to make the differences between Bentley and Rolls-Royce models, minimal, with the S1 deviating only in terms of radiator design and badging from the Rolls-Royce Silver Cloud I. Twin SU carburettors were added from 1957 onward. The head-turner of the time donned the 4-speed automatic transmission and 4-speed manual transmission as options. It was available with two wheelbases measuring 123in (3124mm) and 127in (3226mm) from 1957. A special edition Bentley S1 Continental coachbuilt-only was also launched six months later. Production: S1 – 3072 (145 with coachbuilt bodies)
S1 long wheelbase – 35 (12 with coachbuilt bodies)
S1 Continental – 431
