Among the 1 Series lineup, the BMW 118d takes the cake with a remarkable 60.1mpg figure enabled by its aluminium crankcase and BMW Hydrogen 7 technology, as well as the lowest CO2 emissions of 123g/km, putting it in the Band C category for Vehicle Excise Duty. Other engine models in the 1 Series return up to 24% more economy than the earlier version, while emissions have also dropped by up to 21%. But don't worry, these fuel-saving improvements don't come at the cost of driving pleasure; engine outputs have increased by up to 20hp, granting a pleasant boost in performance.
