All of the models, except for the aforementioned BMW 114i and 116d EfficientDynamics Edition, come with the option of a unique eight-speed automatic transmission, and an Auto Start/Stop function for both manual and automatic gearshifts. Plus, the BMW EfficientDynamics technology package comes with an ECO PRO mode, coalable with a standard Driving Experience Control button. The technology-savvy driver can also anticipate the arrival of the BMW 120d xDrive and the BMW M135i xDrive, as the first BMW 1-Series model to come with intelligent xDrive four-wheel drive.
