BMW 120d
The BMW 1 Series (code name E87) is a compact car/ small family car built by German automaker BMW. It is designed to compete against the Audi A3 and Volkswagen Golf and is the only vehicle in its class offering rear-wheel drive and a longitudinally-mounted engine. Released to the market in 2004, it replaced the BMW Compact range and is currently the smallest and most affordable BMW. The platform of the 1 Series (E87) shares a number of features with the E90 3 Series such as MacPherson struts in the front of the car and a trapezoidal-link rear axle. It is assembled in the Regensburg, Germany plant, with some of its engines coming from the Hams Hall Plant in Birmingham, England.
In its first full year on the market in 2005, it became increasingly successful for BMW as 149,493 units were sold. This put it in third place, with only the 3- and 5 Series selling better.
Engines
