BMW 3 Series Coupe

The BMW E36 was the third generation of BMW's entry-level luxury car and compact executive car, succeeding the BMW E30 from 1991 to 1999. It was replaced by the BMW E46 in 1999. The M3 variant of the E36 was available in the US from 1995 to 1999, and in the European market from 1993 to 1999. The E36 experienced massive success, setting the stage for further success with the BMW E46. Other Platform Applications In the United States, the E36/5 (a modified version of the E36 platform) was available as an entry-level model called the 318ti, equipped with a 1.8L 139 BHP M44B19 engine and priced at USD23,000. However, due to slow sales of the E36/5 Compact in the US, the E46 Compact was not available in that market. The E36/7 (a modified version of the E36 platform) was used to create the BMW Z3 roadster. Despite the BMW factory producing its own E36 convertibles, the Baur Top Cabriolet conversion remained an option. Success The E36 platform is held in high esteem among BMW enthusiasts and saw record-breaking sales figures - both in North America and Europe - across coupes, sedans and convertibles. It was widely acclaimed, winning many awards from major car magazines, and is remembered for its quality and driving experience. This success cemented the strong market presence of BMW for many years to come.
