BMW 320si E90 WTCC

BMW is continuing the tradition of customer sports in 2006 with its presentation of the motorsport version of the new 3 Series at the 61st International Motor Show (IAA) in Frankfurt on 12th September. The 275 bhp racing car, which is 45mm longer and 36mm wider than its predecessor, has been developed by BMW Motorsport and complies with the Super 2000 regulations. It is the racing version of the limited edition BMW 320si, which will be available from BMW dealers from December 2005 onwards and is driven by a powerful 2-litre four-cylinder in-line engine. The BMW 320si E90 WTCC will be competing in the FIA World Touring Car Championship (WTCC) and in many other series around the world in 2006, such as the Championships in Denmark, Italy, Russia, Sweden and Asia. BMW's tradition of offering a high-performance package by keeping racing affordable for customers has prompted more than 100 racing sports kits of the E46 series to be sold to motorsport teams by BMW racing parts distributors. According to BMW Motorsport Director Mario Theissen, “Touring cars without BMW is unthinkable - and BMW is equally unthinkable without touring cars. This is what made the brand grow, and we will stick to this tradition.”
