BMW 328 Kamm Coupe

The BMW 328 Kamm Coupé, known for its namesake German aerodynamicist Wunibald Kamm, was lost in 1953. But now, 70 years after BMW's historic Mille Miglia victory, BMW Classic has restored the legendary racing car due to the significance it holds in both motor sport history and the progression of aerodynamics in vehicles. "We are extremely proud to bring this car back into the public eye," said Karl Baumer, Director of BMW Group Classic. "We faced intense technical challenges, had many discussions, and invested a great amount of research. But you can feel the ardor and expertise that was invested in the project, from those involved years ago and currently." Following the 1940 win, BMW recognized the prominence of its Mille Miglia cars and moved them to a secure location away from Munic. This move proved successful, as all five of the cars were unscathed by the war. Unfortunately, with all the unrest post-WW2, BMW had trouble keeping track of its vehicles. The three Mille Miglia Roadsters were found in Russia, England, and America, and the winning Touring Coupé of 1940 was initially taken by the Americans before a senior BMW employee relocated it to the US when deciding to immigrate.
