BMW 545i Touring

The BMW 545i Touring is the fifth generation of the BMW 5 Series which was produced from 2003 to 2010. It was introduced as a sedan body style with the wagon/estate body style becoming available in 2004. The E60/E61 was eventually replaced by the F10/F11 5 Series in 2010. The E60 model range featured an M5 variant, powered by the powerful S85 V10 engine. It was produced in both sedan and wagon body styles, with a majority of cars featuring a 7-speed automated manual transmission (SMG III). Development of the E60 began in 1997, with the final design, penned by Davide Arcangeli and approved in 2000 under the direction of Chris Bangle, was complete in 2003 with German design patents filed on April 16, 2002. Due to its size, the E60 was larger, wider, heavier and higher than its predecessor, the E39. Many of its internal features, like the flat interior and LCD display were inspired by the E65 7 Series. The E60 quickly garnered huge acclaim from the automotive industry with a huge surge in aftermarket parts from specialist companies such as Hamann, AC Schnitzer, Hartge and Dinan. Performance parts were also released to compliment the already powerful E60.
