BMW 6-Series Gran Coupe [UK]
In June 2012 BMW will expand its 6-Series range in the UK to three models, the most exciting of which is the Gran Coupé. This is BMW's first four-door coupé, combining the style and power of a grand tourer with the practicalities of an executive saloon. Its range of three TwinPower Turbo engines, including a 450hp V8 and two six-cylinders, is mated with an eight-speed automatic transmission and features BMW's EfficientDynamics ‘Auto Start-Stop’ that provides responsive performance with low fuel consumption and emissions.
The car's design takes many cues from classic grand tourers, including a long bonnet, sweeping roofline and cabin towards the rear of the car. At 5,007mm long, with a wheelbase of 2,968mm, it is the largest and roomiest 6-Series to date. Distinctive features include the 'shark nose' with a large forward leaning double-kidney grille, broad air intakes and dual round Xenon or optional LED headlamps which adjust according to body-angle during cornering. Powerful, flared wheel arches and a three-part lower air intake further emphasise the car's wide stance.
